Lighting the way to greater understanding

New Patients

How long will it take to get a new patient appointment?

Dr. Clarke reviews new client inquiries twice per week to ensure she is a good fit for your family and currently has room in her schedule for the type of service you are requesting. You should hear back from her between 2 and 5 business days.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Dr. Clarke will email you paperwork (including consents, policies and procedures, and a good faith estimate for services). Once you return the signed documents, you can schedule an intake. The intake is a 90 minute appointment where Dr. Clarke gets to know more about your current challenges and goals for therapy. Based on her treatment recommendations, we will collaboratively decide the best ways to support your child. Intake appointments are parent only to give us time to discuss sensitive information.

What does a typical session look like?

At this time, Dr. Clarke is only providing telehealth services.

Individual therapy involves play because this is a child’s most natural language! During sessions, Dr. Clarke fluctuates between teaching skills/working with your child and playing.

For children in individual therapy, Dr. Clarke tries to touch base with parents at the beginning of each session to receive any important updates. She also speaks with parents for the last few minutes of session to let them know what their children have learned/should be working on throughout the week.

For teens, Dr. Clarke either uses a collaborative approach (meeting with a parent and teen) at the beginning of session to receive important updates or schedules separate parent sessions periodically to connect with parents. There is a different level of privacy for teens and parents established during our intake and first session.

Dr. Clarke recommends a caregiver session every 6-8 weeks to ensure adequate communication about your child’s progress,
